The economy continues to slow and the unemployment rate continues to rise. I've already been laid off of one job in the past year and don't look forward to it happening again. The company I currently work for is a bit more financially sound than the previous one though, so I'm not too worried about it for the moment.
For those of you who have lost your job or are about to, have no fear because Obama is here and he is going to create 3,000,000 new jobs. I feel like every time I hear him speak he says he's going to create three million jobs. How exactly does that work? How do you just create millions of jobs and where does an exact number like that come from? Let's take a look at a few ways this could be accomplished.
The first way is the way that they supposedly plan to do it. With rebuilding the country's infrastructure. Okay fine, I have no problem with a more robust infrastructure. But here's my question: If these 3 million jobs were absolutely necessary for the country to function, then wouldn't they already exist? Sure, you can create the jobs but you can't create the need for these kind of jobs. It's either there or it isn't. And what would be the end result of this massive government project? Three million more people on the government payroll, either directly or indirectly through contracted companies. Where would the money for three million more government employees come from? And what would happen to these employees over time? I don't know about you but I've never known government to ever get smaller again once it expands. And if the government does create million of new jobs that weren't in fact necessary, all they've really done is throw a colossal amount of extra money down the welfare drain. Higher taxes for all would surely follow.
Another way that the new President wants to create jobs is by offering a $3,000 tax credit to employers for hiring new employees. Sure the employer is going to take the money but they are only going to hire someone if they need to. That $3,000 means nothing in comparison to the actual cost of employing someone. So again, with this method you can't just create jobs where there is no demand for a job.
The third and most dire way to create three million jobs is to start a war on the scale of World War 2. Most of these jobs would come in the form a reinstated military draft and the rest would come from manufacturing the weapons of war.
Personally, it annoys me whenever any politician claims to want to create jobs or claims to have created jobs in the past. The reality is that politicians have very little to do with job creation in a direct sense and they rely on the public being ignorant of that fact in order to get votes. My guess is that these three million jobs will never be created and that the economy will continue to spiral downward for the better part of Barack Obama's first term as President. Only time will tell if his and other politician's meddling in the economy will speed it's recovery or it's continued collapse. Whatever method is actually attempted to create these jobs will very possibly cause more economic instability, misery, heartache, and in some scenarios death. The surest, simplest, and least meddlesome way to quickly create jobs is to cut business taxes significantly. With more cash available those businesses can afford more employees.

What's this?? Another anti-Obama political post?! You have made a common mistake. Many amateur "bloggers" start off with a cool theme (To get out of the rat race, choose self-employment, and live a self-sufficient life.) but when they run out of ideas they descend into a personal blog about whatever drivel is on their mind. Look back through - how many months has it been since you posted something truly relevant to what your mission states?
People aren't coming here to read your fears about the political state of the USA (we don't all live there you know) - so why do you subject us to it? Get back to the mission of your blog and if you don't have anything relevant to post - don't post.
And since I know you are going to say it - yes I could "stop reading" and go elsewhere, but the bottom line is you made this website to make money, and you make money with traffic - alienating the majority of your readers with your minority off-topic views is not conducive with your overall goal, regardless of how you may try and deny it. If you feel the world must hear your political thoughts - make a separate blog and cross promote them ONCE. This way viewers can choose to read both or just one of them.
Russ
And to help you get back on topic, why not try asking us what money saving tricks we already employ and turn it into a readers tips post, or what areas we are most interested in trying to save money? That would give you a bunch of relevant material to keep your blog on track.
Russ,
Are you Russ H from TFLTM forum?
Kurt
wow Russ you sure are a goober.
Alex
Kurt - I am a russ h, but I don't know what tfltm is
Alex - A goober? Tell me my criticism isn't on the mark. I'll summarize for you "Split the site content into individual blogs, stick to the themes and make the posts meaningful."
It's nice to see there are other readers and readers that will take the time to post. Are you guys here as readers of the personal stuff, the self sufficient stuff, or both?
If it's either or, then splitting the content would be in your interest. If it's both, then the site owner could double his impressions by splitting the content - because you would still read both.
The site has potential but it's being wasted by converting it into yet another boring personal blog. Contrary to what you may believe, unless you are Oprah - no one cares what your opinion is. No one cares for mine either. So stick to a plan, get your readers involved and segregate your ramblings from a money-making website.
Russ aka the helpful goober
Russ,
I meant Fastlane to Millions forum. Your style is similar to a Russ H. on that forum.
While your critique may be accurate, your tone may be somewhat difficult to swallow. Another approach would be- "I have really enjoyed reading about your journey in the past, and it feels like lately we have not heard anything in that regards, what gives with all the politics?" Just my opinion. Personally I agree with your sentiment. If you wanted to take the direct approach, perhaps an email would have been more appropriate.
But then again, we have not heard from the author, so maybe the critique will be appreciated.
I for one would appreciate such feedback on my blog, but I can see why Alex may be reacting to your tone.

Russ,
A simple “I don't agree with the latest post and I believe you have strayed off topic” would have been much more beneficial to the blogger then the tone you used. Coming across the way you have you are much more likely to inspire attitude and self defense then true useful constructive criticism would.
Alex
Russ - I would never tell a reader to stop reading and go elsewhere simply becuase he/she disagrees with my opinions. I welcome differing opinions, so please don't presume to know how I would react to such things.
As for your reference to my mission statement, you're probably right there, I've been meaning to update it a bit to reflect some of the current direction of the website.
I appreciate your comments and I'll address the rest of them in a full article on Friday because I feel there needs to be a clarification of intent with my politically centric articles. And if articles about American politics bore you because you live elsewhere, I do apologize but for 95% of the rest of my readers it is relevant to them because they do reside in the United States.
Thanks for reading.
SST - it doesn't bore me because I'm not American, it bores me because it has nothing to do with the website and it's just average blog material. You didn't read my earlier comments - no one cares what your opinion is except for your mum and dad and your friends. For everyone else, there are millions of the exact same blog all over the internet.
You are planning to do the exact opposite of my advice. Instead of splitting your site and doubling your page impressions, you plan to post a disclaimer explanation of why you turned this into a personal soapbox. Alex already sounds like he would read both blogs - so that is instant traffic!
Well - good luck to you sir, monetizing a personal blog is all but impossible.
Kurt - I will visit your website. At the very least I've brought this website the most discussion it has ever had.
Russ
Russ - I read your earlier comments, I simply did not address them. I think you really have missed the point of this website. From it's very inception it has been a blog of a personal nature, it is afterall about my journey towards independence from the corporate machine. I guess I could have named it "yourenotarat.com" or something but that wouldn't really reflect the content.
Though this will be addressed in tomorrow's article, any political articles that do appear have nothing to do with my opinion of one politician or another. It's about how the policies being enacted in this country affect my ability to reach towards my goals in life.
